mi vida
my life

hola amigas!
My name is Adriana Leos (en español mi nombre se pronuncia 'Audriana') - I am a human-being first, an ex-bartender turned entrepreneur, creative, writer and free spirit trying to find her place in this world.
I have traveled the world extensively with a focus on human interaction, responsible tourism and cultural immersion. For the past 10 years I have lived in four different cities within the states, have traveled to over 25 different countries and started a small biz with my best friend.
Continue on to read more about my journey and experience living and working as a young Latina woman, newly found small business owner; and of being the product of the youngest of five siblings to a single-mother, just trying to make a difference in this world.

![kintsugi is the Japanese tradition of repairing broken pottery with gold. instead of hiding the damage, this art form uses a lacquer mixed with powdered gold to highlight the cracks and breaks, transforming the damaged item into a unique, stronger and more beautiful piece that celebrates its history and imperfections
as Trevor Noah so beautifully put it (on an episode of Diary of a CEO): “...to me, it was one of the most beautiful concepts and a different way to think about being “fixed” or “overcoming” something”
[the art of kintsugi]
“it was a paradox shifting way for me to think about “overcoming” or being better
and it wasn’t the idea that we are perfect the way we were before something happened to us, but rather it is that we get to wear our cracks with a new type of pride and a new type of beauty
and that’s maybe how i think of overcoming [adversity] now — is i think of myself like a ceramic that has been cracked many times
and because of the love in my life and because of great therapists and because of good people and because i’ve worked and i’ve managed to find ways to put gold bondage in those cracks to somehow find a little more beauty in myself than i had before the thing that happened to me.”

i listened to this podcast episode several months ago and happened to randomly stumble across the art of kintsugi at a museum last weekend and it reminded me of this beautiful perspective shift
kintsugi also reminds me of that quote that says, “i am a mosaic of everyone i’ve ever loved” — because even through pain, loss, heartbreak, & heartache, the love we’ve experienced never truly leaves us; it shifts and transforms, but it lives on inside of us
and we aren’t broken or diminished because of what we’ve gone through — instead, i like to think that we are all mosaics, laced with gold;
every crack, every shard, every piece is evidence of both our fragility and our strength, our capacity to love and to heal
and there’s so much beauty in that 🦋
